    Kochi to Shillong: An Adventurous Auto Rickshaw Ride

    Auto rickshaws in white, yellow and red standing in a row to begin their long ride to Shillong at the Parade Ground in Fort Kochi is a spectacular sight you probably couldn’t afford to miss. A trip across the country all the way to Shillong kick started on Sunday morning by the Rickshaw Run Spring 2011 that has more than 100 foreigners from all over the world as a part of this take off.

    This event launched in 2006. League of Adventurists International Ltd, a Uk-based company organized the process where the participants take the auto ride and visit the charities in the country.  There are surprisingly 70 teams participating in the event this year driving 5000 km in auto rickshaws in two weeks time.Matthew Dickens, the event manager said “Kochi is the spiritual home of the Rickshaw Run.”

    Thomas Morgan, League of Adventurists CEO, says

    This is where the inaugural event started from, and each time we return to Kochi it gets better and better. The magic of Kerala is something that completely bowled me over when I visited the state for the first time, and I hope the teams will experience some of that magic.

    International Rescue Corps and SCAD are the two charities for the event. The last time it raised nearly Rs.1 Crore and ofcourse each team sponsors $1000 to charity.
